The term Uncanny Valley is the unsettling feeling people experience when something looks almost human but not quite—realistic enough to be familiar, yet imperfect enough to feel eerie. I created manipulated metahuman portraits that evoke this unease, paired with a custom-designed typeface sets that distorts recognizable letterforms into nearly unidentifiable shapes. This interplay of familiarity and distortion mirrors the phenomenon of the uncanny valley.


Presented as an immersive spatial installation, the project surrounded viewers with these portraits and type treatments, while invitation cards and posters extended the experience beyond the space, serving as tactile and graphic entry points into the theme. Together, these elements invited audiences to confront the uneasy boundary between recognition and discomfort.
